In a class of 100 or so fellow MTeach students, we all were instructed to sing a few lines from a very famous song. It was hilarious and quite poignant.
We were singing to drive home the point: We don’t want to become authoritative teachers lecturing (not teaching) to disinterested, disengaged disenfranchised (and any other dis-word) students. It’s up to us teachers to find ways of connecting to our students.
The words here have been morphed to reflect that fact.
