Everyone loves a picnik

squares re-invigorated

I just got lost in time.  I’ve spent an hour (which seemed like 5 minutes) just playing with picnik.

This site has some really cool filters that are a cinch to use.  One can easily jazz-ify some images.  I turned a rather dull set of squares into something much more interesting.

You got to be quick though.  This site is closing down, something to do with the google monster chewing it up and spitting it out as google+.  However what used to be offered as premium services (i.e at a cost) are now…. free!

Go for it.

What next?

Anyone for some zen?

My first haiku for the year.  Or rather the haiku was created last year on my magnetic poetry board stuck on my wall but put together for the first time with imagery.

Actually this image probably sums up what I do best.  It’s a curious mix of poetry, abstract imagery and B+W photography.  It’s all there… in layers.

Go figure.  A former scientist coming up with this stuff.

What next? teaching…

Sexy siren

Lovely curves

It’s the new year.  The first post for 2012.  Why not start with a flower.  Its loaded with buds, full of potential.  Just like the year ahead.

In my garden we have Agapanthus all over the place.  It’s a graceful looking plant. They produce beautiful purple/blue flowers and I particularly love the gentle curves of the leaves.

But with the warm colour palette and soft treatment I’ve turned this innocent into a hot sexy siren!

Between feasting

same but different

Nope, I couldn’t wait for the new year.  Here are all the different variations from yesterdays post.

Had some free time today, in between feasting episodes.  Waistline is expanding but so is my artwork.

Hope the new year continues to give artful inspiration for not only myself but all my followers… that’s all 4 of you now!

Origins too mundane…

Satellite image perhaps?

This abstract beauty looks like an infra-red image of an urban landscape with intricate waterways.  The origins are however very much too mundane.

Try a train shelter rooftop?!  The plastic covering became brittle and started to split.  Great fodder for a bloke like me with an eye for pattern.

I enjoyed creating this so much that there’s many variations of this one image.

The other images will given a makeover many times in the new year I suspect.

One expanding square.

A bit square-ish

Regular followers of my blog ( yes that’s all 2 0f you!) will know I like variation on a theme.

This one is no exception.  One scanned artwork (scrafitto) was shaped into a square and then slightly modified 16 times to get this grid.

This time of year its hard to fit in some time for creativity when all the activity involves eating , drinking and socializing.  Instead of expanding my waistline, I should try expanding my artwork.

Um, maybe I’ll start next year.

Eggceptional

definitely eggy

One egg shape became two and then four and then went out of control.

One egg-shaped variation became a variation on a variation.

Have computer and anything is possible.  I stopped when I thought a zillion eggs is enough.

A simple reworking.

something old is new again

Inspiration is closer than you think sometimes.

Looking for something new to post, I came upon a digital scan of an old sgraffito.  I liked the original enough to scan but thought what else can I do with it?

I reworked it by simply cutting it up and bringing back together again in a random sort of way.  That old sgraffitto can be found here.

Quite a change huh?!

My artwork  is not static, it can and will be changed and reworked to suit the current mood.  Nothing set in concrete here.

You gotta know when to stop.

Call it what you will

This abstract beauty started life probably more than 10 years ago as a scraffito on my visual diary.

I scanned it many years later, photoshopped it once about a year ago,  a second time recently, and now for the final third time.

It has morphed a bit from the original.  As I’ve said many times before:

‘you gotta know when to stop’

I stop when my attention span starts to wander lik e  r i g ht  no    w.

Abstract and blurry

The title describes my brain at the moment

Its been a long time between posts again.

I had a few moments of free time so I quickly came up with this one.

A montage of a flower which was then made even more blurry with the aid of picnik.

The quick and easy stuff is often the best.  Just like the Zen artist who after a moment of stillness quickly finishes his creation with no hesitation and correction.
